Connect EmailQA to Klaviyo: Setup & QA Guide

EmailQA lets you preview HTML emails across real devices and collect visual feedback from your team — send a link, get feedback, ship the email. Connecting Klaviyo lets you import your Klaviyo templates and draft campaigns straight into EmailQA so you can QA them before they go out.

Before you begin

Make sure you have the following ready:

An EmailQA account

You need to be signed in to EmailQA. If you are not logged in, you will be redirected to the login page. EmailQA offers a 14-day free Pro trial with no credit card required.

A Klaviyo account

You need permission to authorize third-party apps. During the connection you will sign in to Klaviyo and approve access.

Read access to your Klaviyo templates and campaigns

EmailQA requests read-only access to your account information, email templates, and campaign data.

No special beta access is required — the integration is available to any signed-in EmailQA user.

1

Connect your Klaviyo account

  1. Sign in to EmailQA and go to the Settings page.
  2. Find the Email Integrations card. This section lets you connect your email service providers to import templates directly into EmailQA.
  3. Locate Klaviyo in the grid of providers and click its Connect button.
  4. A new Klaviyo tab opens. Sign in to Klaviyo if prompted, then review the requested permissions (read access to your account, templates, and campaigns) and approve them.
  5. After you authorize, you are returned to EmailQA. You will see a green banner reading "Integration connected successfully!", and the Klaviyo card status changes from Not connected to Connected.
The connection uses a secure OAuth flow (with PKCE and a signed, time-limited state check). Your access tokens are encrypted and stored on EmailQA's servers and refresh automatically in normal use, so you generally won't need to reconnect.
2

Import a Klaviyo email

Once Klaviyo shows as Connected, you can pull your email content into EmailQA:

  1. From the EmailQA dashboard, click New Project.
  2. In the Create New Project dialog, under HTML Source, click Import from ESP and choose Klaviyo.
  3. Browse the list of your Klaviyo templates and draft campaigns.
  4. Click the email you want to test. EmailQA imports the email's HTML so you can preview and review it.

You can repeat this any time to bring in new templates or draft campaigns.

3

Run a QA test and review previews

After importing, use EmailQA to check how your email renders and to gather feedback:

Preview across real clients and devices

EmailQA renders your email on real devices across major clients in both Light Mode and Dark Mode, including:

  • Desktop: Gmail, Outlook (Windows, Mac, and Web), and Apple Mail (Mac)
  • Mobile: Gmail (iOS, Android), Apple Mail (iOS), and Outlook (iOS, Android)

Collect feedback

Reviewers can click anywhere on the email to drop a pin and leave a comment — no account needed for guest reviewers. This keeps feedback off scattered email threads and screenshots.

Review results

Renders and comments are collected together inside your EmailQA project.

This lets you catch rendering issues — especially Dark Mode and Outlook quirks — before your Klaviyo campaign ships.

Managing or disconnecting your Klaviyo connection

  • To review your connection status, return to Settings → Email Integrations. A connected provider shows a Connected status.
  • To disconnect, click the unlink (icon) button next to the Klaviyo card's Connected status. A "Disconnect Integration?" dialog appears — click Disconnect to confirm. This removes the connection from EmailQA.
  • You can reconnect at any time by clicking Connect again and re-authorizing.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

The banner says "Access was denied."

You declined the permission request in Klaviyo. Click Connect again and approve the requested read access to complete the connection.

I saw "Authorization expired. Please try again."

The connection request timed out (the security check is valid for a limited time). Start again from the Connect button in Settings.

I saw "Please start the connection from your own account, then try again."

For security, EmailQA verifies that the account that started the connection is the one finishing it. Make sure you are signed in to the correct EmailQA account, then start the connection again from your own Settings page.

I saw "Klaviyo integration is not configured. Please contact support."

This means the Klaviyo integration isn't set up on the server side. Reach out to support so we can resolve it.

Do I need to reconnect when my Klaviyo session expires?

Usually not. EmailQA stores encrypted tokens and refreshes them automatically. In some cases — for example, if you revoke EmailQA's access in Klaviyo or the token can't be refreshed — you may be prompted to reconnect from Settings → Email Integrations.

Which email clients does EmailQA test?

Gmail, Outlook (Windows, Mac, Web, iOS, Android), and Apple Mail (Mac, iOS), each in Light and Dark Mode. More clients are added based on user feedback.
